Annie “Sue” Hogg Ellis, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with her health. A loving wife, mom, and grandma, Sue will always be remembered for her indomitable spirit, selfless generosity, kindness and zest for life. Sue loved to cook and watch, while her friends and family enjoyed her amazing recipes. Spending time with her husband, sons and grandchildren made her happiest. Annie “Sue” Hogg Ellis, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with her health. A loving wife, mom, and grandma, Sue will always be remembered for her indomitable spirit, selfless generosity, kindness and zest for life. Sue loved to cook and watch, while her friends and family enjoyed her amazing recipes. Spending time with her husband, sons and grandchildren made her happiest. In 1958, Sue married Lawrence Ellis and they settled down in her hometown of Clayton, NC. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 2006 and were married for 59 years, living an amazing life together. Her love for Lawrence, Nick, Doug, Andy, and all of her grandchildren is a unique and special bond. Her presence lives through each and every one of them. She will forever be missed by the many who loved her.



Sue worked for 30 years at Dorothea Dix Hospital as a Human Resources Manager and was honored with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award for her service, the highest civilian honor, by Governor Jim Hunt of North Carolina.



She is survived by her husband; Lawrence D. Ellis, her sons; Nick Ellis and his wife Hannah, Doug Ellis and his wife Elizabeth, and Andy Ellis; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathon, Elizabeth, Abigail, Sheley and Sam, and her brother Jessie Hogg.



She is preceded in death by her parents Zeb Hogg and Mozelle Adams Hogg, and her brother Robert Hogg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Living with Autism, 102 Solitude Way, Cary, NC 27518.



A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen and Rev. Lloyd Hargis officiating.
